If Not Now, When?
I’ve asked myself this question so many times. It’s one of those things that sounds so simple, but when you really sit with it, it hits you deep. How often do we delay the things we truly want or need because we’re waiting for the perfect moment?
The truth is, there’s no perfect moment. Life is messy, unpredictable, and full of interruptions. If I’ve learned anything, it’s that waiting around for the right time often just means missing the opportunity altogether.
What Are You Waiting For?
For me, there have been times when fear or self-doubt made me hesitate. I’d tell myself, “I’ll start when I have more time,” or “When things calm down, I’ll focus on it.” Sound familiar?
But here’s the thing: things rarely calm down. Time doesn’t magically free up. And most of the time, the only thing holding us back is us.
Whether it’s chasing a dream, making a change, or simply taking better care of myself, I’ve realized that waiting only prolongs the discomfort of wanting more.
The Cost of Waiting
Every time I’ve put something off, I’ve felt the weight of what I wasn’t doing.
- That project I was excited about? It stayed on the back burner while I watched someone else make it happen.
- That commitment to my health? Each day I delayed was another day I felt tired and disconnected from my body.
- That dream I had of starting my own business? The idea stayed in my head instead of creating the impact I knew it could.
Waiting isn’t just harmless—it has a cost. It steals time, energy, and often the chance to grow into the person you want to be.
How I’ve Learned to Act Now
Here’s what’s worked for me (and trust me, I’m still learning):
- Start Small: I remind myself that I don’t have to do everything at once. Small steps matter. If I can move the needle just a little each day, I’m winning.
- Get Real with Myself: I ask, What’s really stopping me? Nine times out of ten, it’s fear of failing or not being perfect. And guess what? Perfect isn’t required.
- Make It Public: When I tell someone my plans, I feel accountable. I can’t let my word fall flat, especially if I’ve shared it with someone who believes in me.
- Celebrate Progress: Every time I take a step, I try to celebrate it. Wins—big or small—deserve recognition.
If Not Now, When?
I’ll be honest—it’s not easy. But I’ve learned that the courage to start now is the difference between dreaming and doing.
Whether it’s a big goal or a small change, I ask myself, If not now, when? Because today is as good a day as any to begin.
So, what’s something you’ve been holding off on? And what’s one small step you can take today to move closer to it? I’d love to hear from you—let’s keep each other accountable!
Let’s stop waiting, sis. It’s time. 💜
